Caprice Spencer Rothe
Caprice was one of the three first individuals in the Makersville community. Caprice Rothe, Morio Murase and Squigglemom, Trish Tsoiasue were the first three creatives who started Makersville. Many of Makersville’s interactions with Caprice have been documented on the Squigglemom and Friends YouTube channel.
Caprice is a director in the Long Beach community directing at local theaters in the area such as the Garage Theater. Her artistic and theatrical sensibilities inform her process in all her classes. Caprice, trained as a pantomime, shares her gift for creating expression without sound in her mask making classes. She helps her students connect with the inner life of their creations, allowing them to design masks with character. In addition to her passion for mask making Caprice also teaches board game design, digital art and animation.
Caprice is a well known name to fans of the 1982 movie E.T. the Extraterrestrial In that movie she shared her movement skills with the operators of the E.T. animatronic to make his movements realistic.
