International Event Manager

Attention Grabbing First Paragraph | You will work with other event managers to plan our second annual week-long creativity conference that will be held in Summer 2025. At that event, Inventors, Entrepreneurs, Artists, Educators and Makers interested in sharing their products, projects, classroom tips, educational tools and environments to an International audience, will present those projects at smaller, co-located showcase events and in classes offered both to conference attendees and to individuals. Leading up to the annual event, you will plan a quarterly event that may be co-located with the events of other event managers. |
Job Description | Each event manager is responsible for budgeting, planning, promoting, gathering sponsors, attendees and volunteers, executing and reporting on the quarterly and annual events. You will create a campaign for your event, work with other event managers and leadership to plan, write and execute grants for the annual event. You will write and execute grants for your own quarterly and annual events. You will share knowledge in-person at a twice monthly meeting. (Some exceptions can be made). |
Job Requirements | -Appreciates the value of hands-on learning (Making) and the Maker movement (which advocates for hands-on learning) -Understands the value of the Maker Mindset (lifelong learning through following interests, open ended learning) -Supports community by developing learning videos and written instruction in blog or video format or both (or by finding and arranging volunteers who might do this) -Makes presentations to audiences at meetings, trainings and events of various sizes. -Finds and organizes speakers at the events we host -Find ways to promote the Makersville Brand and the brands and accomplishments of themselves and those in the Makerspace -Trained in Creative Problem Solving (4 years preferred) -Trained in LEGO(r) Serious Play -Trained in the purposes, communities and methods of our collaborating organizations. -Demonstrated skills in at least one of our focus areas, particularly through personal projects: LEGO bricks, sewing, robotics (with LEGO, the Arduino, MicroBit and other micro processors), contraptions (particularly in the Rube Goldberg), 3D printing. -Demonstrated use of open source and free image and video editors. -Demonstrated flexibility in thought -Demonstrated patience with those who are working in our space -Demonstrate respect for the goals and opinions of others -Demonstrated ability to nudge learning along and transition learning goals through play -Demonstrate inclusiveness and sensitivity to others -Willingness and ability to personally participate in booth setup and management, and to find ways to develop a highly creative yet organized booth presence. -Willing to use the internet resources of others to help advance the organizational goals. -Able to plan long range and near term to execute a shared vision we create -Individual must be family friendly in speech and personal identity and individual able to pass background checks (DOJ, FBI) Must be working on one of the following educational goals: Meeting and Event Manager Cert (CSULB) Digital Marketing (CSULB) Global Logistics Manager (CSULB) Global Trade and Logistics Cert (LBCC 24-26 units) or Foundations of International Business (LBCC) or Foundations of Business (LBCC-12-14 units) AND Certificate in Digital and Social Media (LBCC-9 units) |
About Us Section | Started in 2012, Makersville is part of the ETES Inc. family. We have thrice supported International events in robotics and have a vision of creating multi-national teams that work together to develop projects. We find and create shared purpose with other for profit and non profit agencies. We have a shared mission with Makersville Services (our 501c3 sister). The specific purpose of Makersville is primarily, through play and discovery, to create and share inclusive, practical skills learning experiences that develop confidence and independence (the Maker and entrepreneurial mindsets), including hands-on training, product prototyping, problem solving, inventing, activity and event management and practical entrepreneurship challenges. |
