Project Owner: Practical Microfactory

This is currently a volunteer or internship program. Interns wishing to be paid are asked to apply through their relative workforce development organizations and/or programs.

Makersville is a program of the Makersville Services 501c3 non profit.

The Practical Microfactory has a number of levels at which a volunteer or intern may participate. The goal of the Practical Microfactory is to give you the opportunity to visualize a product you may produce, make one item, make a dozen, make more, ask others to help you make more. I will provide some examples.

The Bunny Factory – The Bunny Factory makes stuffed handmade bunnies for sale at local craft and gift faires. Our bunnies have sold for as much as $30 each, but sometimes we give them away at special and sponsored events. Some have been known to collect our bunnies. You may choose to start by running an arm of the Bunny Factory. You may choose to make stuffed bunnies to take to market, or perhaps a video or game called The Bunny Factory.

The Satchel Factory – We teach sewing and satchel making. You can choose to make many satchels, or just one.

Postcards of historic Long Beach – We make prints of artists’ work on postcards.

A book about Long Beach – We make written memories and print on Amazon.

Skills: Willing to learn, ability to use computers a plus, Google Suite and/or Microsoft 360. Presentation preparation and delivery. Online and in person meeting management. Come with your ideas and help us bring ours and yours to life.
