Kids everywhere!

Another typical day at the Long Beach Sea Base Club Ten space.

We were trying out what we found is a maximum configuration for the downstairs area!

Game design in the computer room, Knitting in the main hall and kids having loud fun with contraptions in the main hall.  (way too much competition for the sound space in the main hall!)

The best part of the day was when little E came by to share a graphic book that he created using the Story Visualizer.  It was so very sweet!

A Typical Club Ten Day?

It seems that some days there are so many things going on in our space at the same time.

Today seems to have outdone them all.

John Willauer was taking inventory of the electronics goodies for the program he will build.  His very loving and patient wife accompanied him.

Morio Murase was running an Intro to Programming class.

Michelle Liu was there to prep for her High Functioning Autism Social Skills Family Support LEGO Play Group.

Leo was there to share with Sharon Moore and discuss what projects could be done for the Digital 3D club that we are working on for the summer… especially how we could integrate LEGO(r) minifigs into the effort.

James Banks was there to share with us, talk about LDraw, EV3, events, competitions, including the upcoming International Children’s Day…!

Lovely, lovely photos to follow!

P2S: A Most Awesome Take Your Child to Work Day!

DSC01860DSC01854DSC01855DSC01851DSC01850DSC01844 DSC01841 DSC01845

Sometimes, I wish I was a child again. Then maybe my Dad would take me to work with him.  I guess I should say that I did sometimes go to my father’s office at the General Hospital in San Fernando, Trinidad. Dad was an Anaestheologist. Anesthetist, as we say here in the U.S. We would check his mail. I don’t remember being very excited by the fancy environment, probably because it wasn’t. We didn’t do any rounds or other patient visits. Just the mail and the office.

Today, the P2S Engineering group visited the Club Ten Makerspace at the Sea Base as a day out for the kids.

Thermofax, LEGO Raffles for awesome Mixels, door prizes (literally-we gave away LEGO doors), EV3 Robotics play, the 3D Printer and my favorite… Walking Creatures.

I’ll spend some time sharing about the Walking Robots activity, because Morio Murase has taken it to way beyond what I did. He designed a mechanism, we kitted 27 kits, and he modeled it in LDraw. We’re thinking this is so awesome, we should kit it and share it on Etsy (doesn’t everyone think this at some time?)  We all agreed that it was a good thing that I spend so much time shopping on Bricklink, the LEGO Education website and, of course,  We had enough parts for all the kits we were trying to make!

Here are some photos from this most awesome event! If you are interested in scheduling your own event at one of the Club Ten locations, please contact!

The Definitive List of Special Days of the Year

This year I named a day.  I did this because I wanted to see if I could start something on a global scale.  It worked! My day was a Global Day of LEGO(r) Brick Fan Play Day.  The date was April 2nd, 2015.  2×4 Day. 4/2/2015, or 2/4/2015 depending upon which way you look at it.  Rumania, Peru, Paris and Long Beach, CA participated.  (I am a co-founder of the Long Beach LEGO User Group).

The Long Beach LEGO User Group celebrated 2×4 Day on April 2nd, 2015 at the Long Beach Sea Base.

It was attended by a few folks from our community.  Great fun was had by all!
